Purpose: This study aimed to identify the working environment, job stress, physical fatigue, job satisfaction, and turnover intention of hospital administrators in the situation of COVID-19 and to investigate factors affecting turnover intention.
Methods: A cross-sectional design was used, with a convenience sample of 140 administrative staff from 6 small and medium-sized hospitals designated as screening and relief hospitals in the J city. Data were collected from October 20, 2021, to October 23, 2021, and analyzed using SPSS/WIN 23.0 program, independent t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, and hierarchical regression analysis.
Results: Factors affecting turnover intention were the salary unsatisfaction (¥â =.46, p<.001) in Model 1 and working environment (¥â=-.24, p=. 003), physical fatigue (¥â=.31, p<.001), and job satisfaction (¥â=-.23, p=.001) in Model 2. The total explanatory power of the model was 60.9% (F=22.46, p<.001, R2=.609).
Conclusion: Considering the results of this study, it is necessary to reduce the increased workload related to quarantine, physical fatigue, and job dissatisfaction factors. Furthermore, a strategy should be developed to improve the working environment, such as additional support for manpower and a compensation system to lower turnover intention of medium-sized hospitals administrative staff in the COVID-19 situation.
